SWIP-Analytic was founded in 2013 by Chloé Cooper Jones, Zoe Jenkin, Marilynn Johnson, and Katherine Tullmann. The initial aim of the group was to promote and showcase women philosophers in core analytic areas. Over the years, the focus of the group broadened to include work in all areas of philosophy in an analytic style.

SWIP-Analytic was funded through generous contributions by the New York Institute of Philosophy at NYU, the Provost’s Office at the CUNY Graduate Center, the philosophy department at the CUNY GC, the Kornblith Chair in the Philosophy of Science and Value at the CUNY GC, Professor Stephen Neale, and the Committee for Interdisciplinary Science Studies at the CUNY GC.

A record of past SWIP-Analytic events over its seven year history can be found here.

Thanks to the work of Adriana Renero, two further SWIP-Analytic groups were launched in collaboration with the group in New York, one in Mexico (SWIP-Analytic México) in 2017, and one in Spain (SWIP-Analytic Spain) in 2018.
